Stage 1 Trust vs. Mistrust (Birth-1⅟2 years)
Infant starts to develop trust with the one providing them care and comfort and builds positive emotional bond between an individual to whom they trust.
Stage 2 Autonomy vs. Shame & Doubt (1⅟2-3 years)
A child starts to play and explore. Child is imaginative and likes role playing and is more confident and independent with self. Gaining personal control is taught by parents.
Stage 3 Initiative vs. Guilt (3-6 years)
Child starts to resolve conflicts between acts of initiative and rights of others. Starts to see self belonging to a one family and starts to create sensitivity of feeling towards members of the family. Sees reality and accept it.
Stage 4 Industry vs. Inferiority (6-12 years)
Mastery of social and academic skills. Stage of acquiring knowledge and developing of competency. Also develops pride over self and satisfaction of their works.
Stage 5 Identity vs. Role confusion (Adolescence)
Explores different identities, roles, and behaviors. Crucial stage for preparing self for the future.
Stage 6 Intimacy vs. Isolation (Early adulthood)
Develops strong relationship and companionship. Seeks long lasting love and starts to feel the need of sexual intimacy. Chooses own partner and plans to start a family and finding a job.
Stage 7 Generativity vs. Stagnation (Middle adulthood)
Raising family, being productive at work and maintaining good relationship with partner and the society.
Stage 8 Ego-integrity vs. Despair (Early adulthood)
Reminisces the past. Has the sense of peace and wisdom. Major event is facing death.
