Genetic characteristics

Genetic characteristics or traits are observable. They are passed on from one generation to generation through genes which contains the DNA. Both the mother and the father in contribute a copy of their DNA at the time of conception. Every time our cell divides, two new cells or daughter cells are produced this contains the exact replica of the DNA stored in the older cell or what we call the mother cell. The chromosomes are paired inside the cell during mitosis or cell division and they are called sister chromatids. During sexual reproduction the genetic information of two individual containing different forms of heritable traits are mixed up. So as mentioned earlier, both female and male shares DNA to produce a new individual and when the two are fused together a zygote is now formed containing each pair of chromosomes, maternal and paternal. If this zygote will successfully grow and becomes a fetus and eventually becomes fully grown individual, we can now see the genetic traits he/she inherited from his/her parents.

These are some lists of inherited human traits:

Earlobes attachment

Cleft chin

Dimples

Handedness

Freckles

Naturally curly hair

Allergies

Hand clasping

Colorblindness

Hairline shape

And PTC tasting
